It's hard to relax and laugh, but it's all we can do. Our 13 month old doesn't eat ANYTHING. I mean, nothing except breastmilk. If she gets something solid in her mouth she gag so much that she vomits! I just chant to myself "she'll eat when she's ready, she'll eat when she's ready" :) It's so tough, though, when your fiends' kids are doing everything at record speed it seems. It's hard not to compare.
skhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00646543485376178222[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8996414747526275896.post-23031431892413101292026-05-31T10:58:06.291-07:002026-05-31T10:58:06.291-07:00Thank you for the wise words, Eileen. Parenting is definitely a spiritual practice!

I didn't know that about crawling and reading, but my boy sure loves his books. It wouldn't surprise me if he's an early reader, come to think of it. We're a family that loves books, anyway.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10320386999214591373[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8996414747526275896.post-68324822955211532862026-05-31T07:27:09.711-07:002026-05-31T07:27:09.711-07:00Yes, keep remembering what is important. He will likely be walking and running in time. And with walking, potty training, learning to read, all the milestones, most kids reach them sooner or later. Thankfully, no one will ask him, when he is looking for work, "how old were you when you first started _________?"

I went in to parenting thinking it was all about me helping my kiddos grow up. Now I realize the trials of parenthood are designed to help mom and dad to mature, too!

Oh, and btw, crawling is said to help the brain develop in ways that help kids learn to read more easily. So a longer time in the crawling stage is *great* for brain development. :)

Out of my children, the one who walked the soonest (at 10 months), took longest to learn to read. That was a waiting game that lasted quite a few years... I kept reading that it was normal for some kids, but it was *really* hard to wait. My younger ones each walked later and later, and read earlier.

But now my "early walker" is in her late teens and loves to read. She just read a lengthy 4-inch-thick biography written about 150 years ago, at a very high reading level. And it was not assigned to her. She read it for FUN! Words cannot express the joy this brings me...Eileen @ Wellness and Workoutshttp://www.wellness-and-workouts.com[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8996414747526275896.post-15805322343781694602026-05-31T13:54:07.033-07:002026-05-31T13:54:07.033-07:00Yes, he will!
